For Parents

Q: Can the OOCP tell my son or daughter about what apartments and landlords are good?

A: OOCP does not maintain any information about the quality (good or bad) of a certain apartment or landlord, and OOCP cannot provide this type of information. But, there are other ways that students can discover this information. When a student finds a place s/he likes, s/he should not be shy about asking the current tenants if they have had a good experience living there. Current tenants are in the best position to provide any information about potential problems a new tenant may encounter with an apartment or a landlord.

OOCP also hosts a Landlord Information Sharing Program. The program is designed to provide students with a method for communicating with each other from year to year about their rental housing challenges and successes.
